Igor

Black Vulture

Igor was taken from the wild as a chick and raised by people who soon realized that vultures aren’t suited to be pets. When they attempted to release him, Igor began seeking out humans for food—he even became known for stealing picnics at a local park! Eventually, wildlife officials stepped in and brought him to the Auburn University Wildlife Hospital, where it was very clear that he was a human imprint, and therefore non-releasable. Igor was later transferred to Raptor Hallow Sanctuary, where he now plays an important role in educating visitors about the essential part vultures play in keeping ecosystems healthy.
