Minerva
Great Horned Owl
Minerva has a deformed wing and impaired eyesight, and is therefore non-releasable. She was found lying on the ground as a chick and was placed back into her nest by wildlife rehabbers. The next day, she was found on the ground beneath her nest again. For this reason, the rehabbers assumed she was rejected by her mother, so she was admitted to the rehab center. There, it was discovered that her left wing is deformed, preventing her from making long-distance flights, and her right pupil does not dilate properly, which resulted in impaired vision. Minerva would not be able to hunt, so the decision was made to imprint her so she could be used for educational purposes. After her time in rehab, she was transferred to Raptor Hallow Sanctuary, where she now plays an important role in educating the public about her species and their challenges in the wild.
